DRDO Developed Anti COVID Drug, Approved By DGCI For Emergency Use in India.
This drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) is developed by a lab of DRDO, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS).
However, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad is also with the collaboration to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)
But, the 2-DG drug comes in powder form and it has to be taken orally by dissolving it into the water.
After this, It accumulated in the cells which are infected by the virus and stop the growth of the virus.
DRDO finds in clinical trials that this drug helps to recover faster to hospitalized patients.
It also reduces supplemental oxygen dependence.
In Clinical trials, It founds that after taking this drug for some days, the RT-PCR test also comes negative.
The Ministery stated that ” This drug gives immense benefits to the Covid-19 patients.
This Drug could be the game-changer fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
