Lockdown in Ahmedabad – As the 57 hour long curfew prepares after a spike in cases in Ahmedabad city,

the Gujarat government on Friday rule a new statewide shutdown to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Chief Minister Rupani said that his government not sluggish for statewide lockout.

Rupani say the weekend curfew would only impose in Ahmedabad city from Friday night,

as a precautionary measure after a sudden spike in coronavirus cases in the state’s commercial hub.

At present there is no question of implementing lockdown in Gujarat.

We have decide to impose weekend curfew in Ahmedabad city on Saturday & Sunday – Rupani.

In addition, police have direct to take strict action against those who found to be roaming without face masks,

and violate social distance norms, CM told reporters in Banaskantha district.

Following a spike in cases, authorities announce a curfew of 57 hours in the municipal limits,

on Thursday night from Friday night, to prevent COVID-19 spread in the city of Ahmedabad.

The curfew in Ahmedabad city will start at 9am on 20th November on Friday night & end at 6am on Monday 23rd November.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation – AMC on Friday said,

600 odd city buses operate by it would not ply during the curfew period.

During this full curfew, only milk & drug shops will remain open, AMC announcement.

As per the AMC release, night curfew will in force in the city from 9am – 6am from Monday.

The city of Ahmedabad has witnessing a steady increase in cases of Covid-19,

since the beginning of this month.

From about 140 daily cases a few months ago, the city is now seeing more than 200 Coronavirus single day infections.

The state’s health department said,

230 people in the city found to infect with covid-19 in the 24 hours ending at 5 pm on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing situation,

the government has stay its earlier decision to open secondary schools and colleges in the state from 23rd November,

an official release said on Thursday.
