Google Doodle features Iconic Indian actress – Zohra Sehgal
The iconic Indian actress & dancer Zohra Sehgal honor by Google on Tuesday, which feature her in a doodle on its homepage.
Sehgal one of the first artists in the country to gain international recognition.
She receive the Padma Shri in 1998, Kalidas Samman in 2001 & Padma Vibhushan in 2010 including the country’s highest awards.
Zohra Sehgal born on 27th April, 1912 in Saharanpur, now in Uttar Pradesh. When she was 20, she learn ballet at a prestigious school in Dresden, Germany.
She later tour internationally with Indian dance pioneer Uday Shankar.
In 1945, Sehgal join the Indian People’s Theater Association & got into acting.
Some of his famous films include Neecha Nagar (Loli City), which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1946 on this day.
The film won the Palme d’Or Award, the festival’s highest honor.
After Sehgal move to London in 1962, she appear in British television classics such as Doctor Who & the 1984 miniseries The Jewel in the Crown.
He also play a role in Bend It Like Beckham.
Zohra Sehgal died on 10th July, 2014 in Delhi.
