India govt. is constantly making efforts to convince Tesla to set up a production facility for EV manufacturing in the country.

Recently, India’s Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announce,

A huge incentive for the California base EV manufacturer to reduce the production cost of its electric vehicles.

Gadkari said the govt. would ensure that production costs for Tesla would among the lowest in the world,

even lower than China if they start manufacturing in India.

Transport Minister confide with great confidence in his statements. Tesla plans to import its EVs in India.

In January 2021, Tesla officially register as a unit in Bangalore, Karnataka.

Tesla plans to set up R&D center and sales outlet in India.

Initially, Tesla will import production ready units that are likely to manufacture in the Netherlands.

However, Indian govt. officials have pushing Tesla to set up a local production facility.

To convince Tesla, Mr. Gadkari even said that instead of assembling cars in India,

they should make products across the country by hiring local vendors. Then we can make higher concessions.

However, no further information has found on the matter, and Tesla is not interested in it.

The cost of Tesla electric car is 2021 in India.

According to sources, the entry level electric car Tesla Model 3 costs around Rupees 50 – 60 lakh.

However, if Tesla agrees to start manufacturing in India in 2021,

the Tesla Car Model 3 will cost much less and you can expect it to be less than Rupees 40 lakh.

The Government of India is quite serious when it comes to promoting green vehicles and curbing CO2 emissions.

There are various incentives for EV manufacturers as well as customers.

However, when the Transport Minister comments about providing the lowest production cost for the Tesla EV in the world,

we are not sure how he plans to do so.

It would appreciate if government officials can provide some information or details on how this can done.

In this way, it will convince not only Tesla but also EV manufacturers from all over the world to invest in India.
